The production cost of glass consists of soda ash, coal, and other expenses, each accounting for approximately one-third of the enterprise’s production cost. In the cost composition of flat glass manufacturing, except for fuel and soda ash, other materials have a relatively small proportion and price fluctuations are also relatively low. Therefore, fuel prices and soda ash prices are the main factors affecting glass costs.
Preliminary calculations show that each weight box of float glass consumes approximately 10-11 kilograms of heavy soda ash, equivalent to producing one ton of glass, which is 0.2-0.22 tons of soda ash; A 600 ton/day float glass production line requires 0.185 tons of heavy oil to produce one ton of glass. Heavy soda ash is generally produced from raw salt and limestone through chemical synthesis methods to produce light soda ash, and then through solid-phase hydration method to produce heavy soda ash. In addition, heavy pure alkali can also be obtained by evaporation or carbonization using natural alkali as raw material. According to the production process of float glass, natural gas is used for normal production. In a 600 ton kiln with a melting rate of 0.83, the electricity consumption is 65 degrees Celsius and the water consumption is 0.3 tons. If the raw materials are poor, the cost price will be relatively low.
